Carnegie Mellon’s Department of Engineering and Public Policy Opens in new window (EPP) offers both a master’s and Ph.D. program, preparing future problem solvers through knowledge in science, technology, economics, and social analysis. The department’s unique programs enable students to build the skills necessary to address policy issues across a wide array of diverse domains.

    The Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering and Public Policy program enables students with technical backgrounds to address policy issues focused on science and technology. With research thrusts in energy systems, climate and environment, risk analysis, information and communication technology, and technology innovation policy, Ph.D. students can choose to focus on an area that meets their career goals.
