“EMERGE fosters an amazingly supportive community. As a head mentor, I strive to give back to this community through empathetic leadership. This program has shown me the importance of creating a space where students can feel seen and be empowered to grow and connect. I'm incredibly grateful to be a part of this community and hope to deepen my skills and meet new friends this year!”

“I’ve been part of EMERGE since my freshman year, and I have really enjoyed every single aspect of this program. Whether it is grabbing food with my mentees or catching up with my own mentor, I feel like I always have someone to turn to. As a head mentor, I’m super excited to give back to this amazing community as much as it has given to me these past few years. I can’t wait to meet everyone soon!”

“I wanted to become a head mentor because I had an amazing experience as both a mentor and a mentee. My mentor was incredibly welcoming and supportive, sharing valuable advice that helped me adjust to CMU. Being part of a mentor family also gave me the chance to meet people from different departments and build meaningful connections. This program made me feel truly welcomed, and I gained so much from it that I wanted to give back. As a head mentor, I hope to support incoming freshmen and help make their experience at CMU as positive as mine was.”

“EMERGE creates a welcoming community that allowed me to adjust to the rigorous environment of CMU and thrive. This inspired me to become a mentor last year to provide the same support system to incoming freshmen that I was provided. I hope to assist other students in whatever ways they need, and I am excited to meet another group of wonderful students!”
