Smart Infrastructure Institute
The mission of the Carnegie Mellon Smart Infrastructure Institute (SII) is to work with industry on the development of new technologies for tomorrow’s physical infrastructure, including buildings, pipelines, railways, bridges, and the grid.
SII research focuses on:
- Sensor data-driven awareness of the usage and condition of components and systems
- Advanced information models and visualization approaches
- Proactive, intelligent decision support and control of these critical infrastructure systems
The ultimate goal is to develop a higher quality infrastructure system that is efficient, effective, secure and sustainable through data acquisition, information modeling and proactive decision support.
