Three Minute Thesis Championship

Back for its 10th year at Carnegie Mellon University, Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is an internationally recognized competition that challenges PhD students to present a compelling oration on their thesis and its significance in just three minutes, in language that anyone can understand. 3MT is not an exercise in trivializing or “dumbing-down” research but requires students to consolidate their ideas, crystallize their research discoveries and capture the imagination of their audience.

The 3MT 2025 Championship will feature the ten preliminary round winners as they compete for first, second and third place, as well as the live audience votes for People’s Choice and live virtual-vote for the Alumni Award. Learn more about this year's finalists in this news story.
