In this 1.5-hour workshop, “Geographic Optimization with QGIS: Route Planning,” participants will explore practical techniques for optimizing route planning using QGIS, focusing on applying spatial analysis and linear optimization methods to find the most efficient paths.
Participants will learn to utilize QGIS tools for route planning, including data filtering, spatial queries, and geoprocessing algorithms, to identify optimal routes based on various criteria such as distance, travel time, or cost. The workshop will guide attendees through designing linear optimization workflows within QGIS to solve complex route planning problems.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to leverage QGIS to perform data-driven route optimization, improving their spatial decision-making and problem-solving skills in geographic contexts.
This workshop is designed for beginners and intermediates. You can download the QGIS software on the QGIS.org website. We recommend installing the Long-Term Version.
Please bring a laptop and have the software installed prior to the workshop. If you are having trouble installing, you can make a virtual or in-person appointment and we can help you. Note: We won’t be able to help you install it at the workshop so please plan ahead.
