Nanoparticles for RNA therapeutics: Enabling a medical revolution

The COVID-19 mRNA vaccines upended the course of the pandemic and the world’s approach to vaccination. At the heart of those vaccines are nanoparticles that package up the fragile RNA and deliver it safely into the body’s cells. Kathryn Whitehead, a professor of chemical engineering, ;will discuss her lab’s role in engineering lipid nanoparticles for next-generation RNA therapeutics with the potential to treat diabetes, cancer, cystic fibrosis, neurological disorders, and more.
