Reeja Jayan

Professor and Faculty Director of the Center for Faculty Success, College of Engineering

Reeja Jayan is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering with several courtesy appointments. Her research, which lies at the intersection of electromagnetics and materials science, targets sustainable processing of ceramic materials for energy storage and sensing applications.

She received CMU’s Teaching Innovation Award in 2024 for her use of innovative game-based learning strategies in the classroom in addition to numerous other awards for her research, including an NSF Career Award, the Young Investigator Award from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, and Pittsburgh Magazine’s 40 Under 40 Award.

Katie Walsh joined Carnegie Mellon as a teaching consultant at the Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence and Educational Innovation in 2015 and has been teaching courses in the Dietrich College of Arts and Sciences Department of History.

In 2022, she was named associate director of academic support services, where she directed a staff of peer mentors, including supplemental instruction leaders and peer tutors, in addition to helping others develop as teachers and learners.
