Visiting Professor, Engineering and Public Policy
Dush N. K. Jayakody is a senior member of IEEE and a Fellow of IET. He received his Ph.D. in electronics and communications engineering from University College Dublin, Ireland, in 2014, and his MSc in electronics and communications engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University, Turkey.
He was ranked among the top 2% of scientists in the world in 2021-2025, according to the Stanford-Elsevier list. In 2021/2022/2023 he received the Sri Lankan Presidential Award for his outstanding research performance, among many other awards and recognitions. He is a professor at the Lusófona University, Portugal and adjunct professor in Faculty of Engineering, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, Sri Lanka. He has held visiting and/or sabbatical positions at the Center for Telecommunications Research, University of Sydney, Australia, in 2015, and Texas A&M University, USA, in 2018. He was a visiting professor at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, in 2019 and 2022, under the framework of the Academy of Finland. Additionally, he served as a visiting professor at the University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil, in 2019. From 2019 to 2022 and from 2024 to onwards, he has been serving as a SPARC Professor in the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India, under the framework of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, India.
From 2014 to 2016, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Tartu, Estonia, and the University of Bergen, Norway. He has supervised more than 10 Ph.D. students, numerous master’s students and undergraduate students, and five postdoctoral researchers. Throughout his career, he has secured nearly $6 million in research funding from various international grant agencies and published more than 230 peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and books. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Best Paper Award at IEEE ICCMIT 2017, ETIC 2019, ICARC 2024, ICAC 2024, and IRC 2023.
