Event description
The 4th Annual ABIC Community Meeting, hosted by the African BioImaging Consortium in partnership with AUC and the Afretec Network, will take place from October 28-19, 2025 at AUC's New Cairo campus. Centered on the theme "Infrastructure & Access – The Benefit of Shared Research Infrastructure and Core Facility Models in Africa," the meeting will strengthen collaboration across the African microscopy and bioimaging community.
Bringing together scientists, facility staff, students, policymakers, and funders, the event will explore models for sustainable shared infrastructure, address expertise gaps across the continent, and shape strategies for long-term capacity building. With its hybrid format, inclusive registration, and travel fellowships for African participants, the meeting is designed to promote equitable access, expand networks, and deliver actionable solutions to advance life sciences research in Africa.
