This spring, Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Engineering awarded professorships to four esteemed faculty members. They will be honored at a formal ceremony in fall 2026. Congratulations to the four recipients, listed below.

Sarah Bergbreiter

Dan and Karen Swanson Endowed Professor

Bergbreiter is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Her research focuses on the challenges of engineering robotic systems down to sub-millimeter size scales. She works on small mobile robots and microfabrication in support of larger robotic systems. Bergbreiter is the inaugural recipient of the Dan and Karen Swanson Endowed Professorship.

Maysam Chamanzar

Howard M. Wilkoff Professorship of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Chamanzar is a professor of electrical and computer engineering. He has dedicated his research to understanding the brain and developing novel tools and techniques to better understand the nervous system. Chamanzar has pioneered research in implantable neural interfaces and non-invasive virtual ultrasonically sculpted optics.

Adam Feinberg

Robert Mehrabian Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering

Feinberg is a professor in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering. His research focuses on engineering extracellular matrix protein scaffolds using advanced biomanufacturing and 3D bioprinting approaches for multiple applications including cancer models, regenerative scaffolds, skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle tissue engineering.

Carlee Joe-Wong

Sense of Wonder Group Professorship of Electrical and Computer Engineering in AI Systems

Joe-Wong is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She focuses on the mathematical aspects of computer and information networks and systems, with an emphasis on economic and incentive considerations. Joe-Wong is particularly interested in applying theoretical insights to practical system deployments.
