Dynamics of immiscible fluid imbibition in foams
Imbibition of water-immiscible fluids into foams plays an important role in diverse applications, ranging from remediation of environmental oil spills to cleaning and personal care products. This will be an experimental study of the dynamics of oil imbibition into aqueous foams. The primary tools will be microscopy and image analysis, and the objective will be to understand what factors control the rate of imbibition and the path selection for oil transport via foam lamellae.
