Tamal Mukherjee is a research engineer and assistant director of the Center for Electronic Design Automation in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests include CAD tools to support analog circuit design, high-performance circuit design, numerical optimization algorithms, and synthesis of MEMS structures. He was a developer of the CMU ASTRX/OBLX system, including modular simulated annealing and Asymptotic Waveform Evaluation libraries, which have often been reused for developing larger CAD tools for automated design of various types of systems. His thesis research addressed the problem of circuit operating environment and manufacturing line variations in the context of analog circuit synthesis. Since 1995, he has been involved in the use of numerical algorithms for the automated synthesis of MEMS.
