Margaret Harding McGill is the director of policy engagement in the Office of the Vice President for Research, supporting energy and tech policy research from the Department of Engineering and Public Policy (EPP) and the Wilton E. Scott Institute for Energy Innovation. She is based in Washington, D.C. and connects Carnegie Mellon research to decision-makers in the broader policy ecosystem.
McGill previously served as the deputy eirector of the Office of Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA).
Prior to federal service, McGill covered tech policy issues as a reporter for Axios, POLITICO, and Law360 in D.C. She also worked in Pittsburgh as a reporter for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. She is a Michigan native and graduate of Michigan State University.
