Rita Canton is the director of engineering outreach for the College of Engineering. In this role, she coordinates the outreach efforts in the college while creating strategies and expanding opportunities to reach K-12 teachers, students, and Out of School Time (OST) providers to build a larger community of diverse engineers.

Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon, Canton served as an educator and administrator at four parochial schools in the Pittsburgh area over a span of 25 years. She has extensive experience in K-12 education and administration in underserved communities and has been a leader in championing equitable educational access for all students.

Canton is a proud CMU alumna, with a B.S. in electrical engineering. She has a master of theology from Xavier University in Louisiana and completed Master of Education programs at Chatham University and the University of Scranton, earning certifications in secondary math and educational administration and leadership.
