Local high school students toured labs and received an introduction to advanced manufacturing on June 21, 2019, thanks to the Next Manufacturing Center's executive director, Sandra DeVincent Wolf, and with the help of Ph.D. students Edgar Mendoza and Nick Jones. The program included lab tours, hands-on projects, and presentations.
The students responded positively to their experience. In the end-of-program survey one commented, "I loved the tours, and getting to see the ins and outs of how engineering works and the different environments you can work in [while] in college." Another said, "I also enjoyed [how,] on the tours of the labs, we learned of new things that the students were working on/researching. [We learned] about the impact that these might have on the world."
