MFI and its Mill 19 partners provide free manufacturing workforce training

SkillMill19™ is a bold new workforce training partnership between Carnegie Mellon University’s Manufacturing Futures Institute, Catalyst Connection, and the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Institute that is helping to shape, enhance, and expand the advanced manufacturing workforce in the Pittsburgh region.

Located at the innovative Hazelwood Green Mill 19 facility, this transformative program addresses critical workforce development needs by bridging skills gaps in cutting-edge technologies and makes use of the advanced manufacturing expertise, state-of-the-art equipment, and facilities resources at Mill 19.

Both incumbent workers and job seekers enroll in the free classes, which are funded through federal and regional foundation awards. Current courses address basic skills development, such as workplace safety and blueprint reading; managerial and operations-related classes; and technical skills in robotics, artificial intelligence, circuit design and assembly, and the Internet of Things.
