This project develops a co-created, community-driven framework that integrates local knowledge, crowd-sourced building data, geospatial information, 3D building models, and climate simulations to assess and anticipate the impacts of rising temperatures on building envelopes. The pilot study is centered on Cairo’s Fifth Settlement — a rapidly urbanizing area facing significant heat and environmental pressures. The work directly addresses UCL Grand Challenges in climate crisis, data-empowered societies, and inequalities, and aligns with both institutions' priorities for participatory and community-based research.
