The goal of the Afretec PI Meeting is to foster collaborative knowledge creation among Afretec members, connecting established faculty with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Beyond nurturing scientific and technical excellence, the PI meeting will provide a forum to identify funding opportunities and maximize the visibility of the network across the African and global innovation communities.
This event is an invitation-only event for Afretec Network members. Each active Afretec Network grant will have three attendees:

The achievements of each grant supported by the Afretec Network should be summarized in an abstract. The abstracts will appear in the proceedings book of the Afretec PI Meeting. Abstracts should be submitted by Friday, May 16 to Evariste Nsengumuremyi.
The poster presentation session that will close day 2 of the Afretec PI Meeting will offer students and postdoctoral fellows the opportunity to actively engage with the Afretec community. Posters should be submitted by Monday, May 19 to Evariste Nsengumuremyi.
Each principal investigator will present the objectives, methods, results, and future directions of their project. Full grant presentations are 30 minutes (including 6 minutes of Q&A). Seed grant presentations are of 20 minutes (including 4 minutes of Q&A). Presentations should be submitted through Google Forms by Tuesday, May 27.
Local transportation from Kigali airport to the hotel (Radisson Blu Hotel, KG 2 Kimihurura Roundabout, Kigali, Rwanda) has been arranged for participants. Shuttle service from the hotel to the venue (Carnegie Mellon University Africa, Prime Economic Zones (PEZ) Building) has been arranged for participants. Shuttles from the hotel to the venue will be available in front of the hotel lobby at 7:30 am and 7:45 am on the first day of the meeting, June 2 (and at 7:45 am and 8:00 am on the following days, June 3 and 4).
Hotel reservations are on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast will be served at the Larder Restaurant from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be offered at the conference venue from June 2 to 4. The hotel will provide lunch on the days after/before the conference, with a cap of 30 USD per person. Dinner will be offered a la carte at any of the restaurants at the Radisson Blu with a cap of 30 USD per person. Meals will be directly charged to the room. (We will not cover incidentals, transport by the hotel, alcohol beverages or other extra services other than meals and accommodation at the Radisson Blu Hotel.)
