Speaker: Léandre Berwa
Co-founder and CEO: SLS Energy, Kigali, Rwanda
Berwa is a co-founder and CEO at SLS Energy, a battery repurposing company based in Kigali, Rwanda. He previously worked in the electric mobility and battery industries as a consulting battery engineer at STIMA Boda and a battery research intern at Hitachi Central Research Laboratory.
Berwa is passionate about sustainable energy access in Africa and engineering optimization. His work focused on building battery degradation models, optimizing electric vehicle fleet sizing and operations, and energy project development.Berwa holds an MSc degree in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University Africa.
This seminar is a part of a more strategic and coordinated drive, led by the DVC, to enhance innovation in all of its many facets at Wits University.
