This workshop is being conducted as part of the Mastercard Foundation-funded Afretec initiative on inclusive digital transformation which aims to support research and innovation for positive social and economic impact in Africa via Carnegie Mellon University and its partner institutions across the continent and overseas.
The workshop will bring together stakeholders from academia, government, business, and non-governmental organizations to solicit their knowledge, insight, and advice. This will help shape an agenda for applied research, development and deployment of various new technologies and practices. In addition, this workshop will suggest standards and policies for social and commercial advancement. The larger outcomes for Africa that are being targeted are improved safety, reduced pollution, better quality of life, and increased economic activity.
