Idrissa Sarr is a full professor in the field of big data and datascience at the University of Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD). Sarr is currently director of the Research and Training Center on Web Technologies (CURI), vice chairman of the African Top Level Domain Organization, managing director of the ccTLD Registry of Senegal (NIC Senegal) and coordinator of the Data Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence (DiCentre4AI) at UCAD.

He leads the management and implementation of several projects, including SenAgro: Data Science Training Kit for Smart Agriculture in Senegal, Agricultural Data Sharing and Protection for Ethical and Responsible Valorization in Africa, Initiative for the Development of Artificial Intelligence/Senegal, the African AR/VR Lab@UCAD, etc.

Sarr is also member of the academic board of UCAD and an expert in assurance quality for the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education, the National Quality Assurance Authorities of Senegal and Guinea Republic, and the Training and Studies School of the Central Bank of West Africa.

His academic background includes a master’s degree in computer science obtained at UCAD in 2006, a Ph.D. in big data technologies at Université Paris 6 in 2010, and a post-doctorate in social network analysis completed at University of Quebec in 2012.
