Mark Budnik is a teaching professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering specializing in embedded systems and automotive and industrial applications. He joined the academic ranks in 2006 after a 16-year career in the semiconductor industry, culminating as an engineering director at Hitachi Semiconductor.

Budnik received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois and his master of science and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He is the author of approximately a hundred book chapters, journal articles, conference papers. His online classes have enrolled nearly 100,000 students from 170 different countries.

He has won a number of prestigious institutional, regional, and national teaching awards, including Disney’s inaugural Inspiring Brilliance Award and the 2019 ASEE National Outstanding Teaching Award.
