Machining for research
Research labs are permitted to use the machine shop to machine parts and materials. However, there is a fee charged for machine usage time. This fee applies to any students, faculty, or staff conducting work for research purposes. Research personnel must complete the required training prior to operating the equipment.
Requests
Time is submitted through the FBS system, using the "Machine Shop Usage for Research Request" form. If you do not have an account already, contact Ed Wojciechowski.
Cost
There is a rate of $72/hour for machine usage time paid by a CMU account using an oracle string.
