The MakerWing of Hamerschlag Hall is an integrated vision for collaborative learning, making, and research.
In Carnegie Mellon style, we are fusing hands-on learning experiences with high impact, solutions-based research in one multidisciplinary hub.
Hamerschlag Hall, the iconic flagship building of the university, is ready for a transformation. We seek to reenergize 40,000-square-feet into integrated maker spaces, clustered research environment, and open workspaces.
This unique wing will lower barriers to multidisciplinary collaboration while cultivating creative problem solving and "learning by doing." Students across the college will be able to pursue pragmatic designs and functional applications for coursework and independent projects (like Design II capstone design projects and Build18, a freestyle product creation competition).
This transformation will combine:
- Student Maker Spaces
- Advanced Manufacturing Laboratories
- Collaborative Research Space
- Micro/NanoSystems Laboratory
Our commitment to the Hamerschlag Hall renovation is a commitment to our students, faculty, and future. We invite you to join this exciting transformation.Learn more by viewing our MakerWing video:
