Distinguished Seminar: Overview of SEI internal research and development with Jeff Boleng

Abstract

A brief overview of SEI will be presented, along with a more detailed look at SEI’s current internal research portfolio, which includes many CyLab collaborators.  The talk will culminate with a discussion of the strategic direction of internal research going forward, and the process for CyLab and SEI researchers to collaborate, with a specific focus on increasing collaboration and areas of common work where appropriate.

Bio

Jeff BolengJeff Boleng is Chief Technology Officer (Acting) and Deputy CTO at the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute (SEI), a leader in advancing software and cybersecurity to solve the nation’s toughest problems through focused research, development, and transition to the broad software engineering community. The SEI is a key innovator in areas central to U.S. Department of Defense in cyberspace, including software quality, data analytics, mission assurance, the integration of software-intensive systems, network and system resilience, and the increasing overlap of software and systems engineering.

In his role as CTO, Boleng leads the SEI’s research and development (R&D) portfolio and its work with Government, academia, and industry to customize, develop, and adapt software and cybersecurity technologies for the measurable benefit of the U.S. Government.
