Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) will sign a cooperation agreement with the Government of Portugal to renew the CMU Portugal Program on February 15, 2018, in Matosinhos, Portugal.
This public signing ceremony will initiate Phase III of the Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program, a new 10-year commitment to launch information and communications technology (ICT) ventures and establish industrial partnerships through research.
CMU Interim President Farnam Jahanian will be in attendance along with senior Portuguese government officials and top-ranking academic leaders.
For the last decade, CMU has partnered with Portuguese universities and research institutions to pursue high-caliber research which has made a significant impact on the scientific culture and the entrepreneurial capability of the ICT sector in Portugal.
In addition to CMU, other academic institutions will sign cooperation agreements during the event, titled, ”GoPortugal: Global Science and Technology Partnerships Portugal. ” Terms of implementation will also be signed for six new collaborative laboratories, denoting associations between scientific institutions and business enterprises.
The renewed Carnegie Mellon Portugal program will build on Carnegie Mellon’s experience as a dynamic economic engine in the Pittsburgh region.
