The Robomechanics Lab has several projects available to Engineering Honors Research Students. The goal of the research is to help develop robots that work in challenging environments, such as rocky deserts or cluttered homes, with a focus on developing dynamic behaviors for legged, wheeled, and tracked vehicles, as well as mobile manipulation platforms. Projects include: designing, building, and testing new feed and leg materials and configurations; developing motion planning and optimization algorithms for robot behaviors such as digging in sand and pushing rocks around; and theoretical analysis into the geometry of hybrid rigid-body-dynamical systems with contacts.
