Co-creating tomorrow: Community-Driven Engineering for a Resilient Future is a webinar series exploring the critical intersection of community wisdom and engineering expertise in the face of a changing climate. Organized by CMU's Center for Engineering Resilience and Climate Adaptation, this series will foster a deeper understanding of how community engagement can enhance the effectiveness, equity, and sustainability of resilience and adaptation initiatives.

In this webinar, Assistant Professor Corey Harper will host Millard McElwee, CEE alumnus and current Vice President of Strategy and Operations at McCoy Group.

McElwee will demonstrate how he applies data-driven decision frameworks to deliver measurable, equitable, and adaptive infrastructure solutions to areas like Southeast Louisiana, a region deeply familiar with climate challenges. His efforts not only improve local flood resilience, but have also demonstrated measurable success in improving operational efficiency and safety, ensuring that resilience is sustained from the ground up.

McElwee's work is a powerful demonstration of community-driven engineering in practice, and this conversation will provide crucial insight into how technical excellence can be leveraged to address changing public needs and create resilient outcomes for the communities we serve.
