Dr. Alvy Ray Smith cofounded the four centers of computer graphics excellence: Altamira, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and NYIT Computer Graphics Laboratory. He was the co-founder and EVP of Pixar, and co-founder and CEO of Altamira which acquired by Microsoft.

He will be sharing a story, a history that few know - start from the first pixels in 1947 and proceed up the Moore's Law curve, the unceasing supernova dynamo of all things modern, to the current time with computers 10 billion times more powerful than they were when he did his first graphic in 1965. He will be showing the advances, both in stills and videos, using the group now known as Pixar as exemplar at every order-of-magnitude delivered by Moore's Law. He will explain the secrets of the success of the group, and even share of a story that are generally unknown or commonly misrepresented.
