Engineering Research Accelerator

The Engineering Research Accelerator, which is a part of the College of Engineering, provides an integrated, coordinated, and college-wide set of services for research incubation, acceleration, and support.

These functions include research administration, corporate partnership, funding opportunities, business support, and research incubation and acceleration activities. The Accelerator enables continuous assessment of current activities and clusters, as well as the identification and fostering of high-potential, cross-cutting, emerging research directions to maintain the College’s competitive advantage.

Pre-award development includes budget creation, proposal submission, the development of a broader impacts strategy, and technical and editorial writing assistance. Post-award financial management for research includes financial management of grants and contracts, compliance, and reporting.

Partnerships

Development and fostering of partnerships between researchers and industry, government, or other organizations.

 

Funding opportunities

Cultivation of funding from industry, government (federal and state levels), organizations, and individual donors; awarding and management of funding opportunities, such as but not exclusive to the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Technology Alliance and College-based seed funding for students and equipment; and management of established named student fellowship programs, including the Dowd, Steinbrenner, and Cohon fellowships.

Creation and actualization of broader impacts strategies; creation of college-wide opportunities to partner with K-12 populations and create educational modules for existing and new programs; coordination with the university’s Leonard Gelfand Center for Service Learning and Outreach resources.

Incubation services

Program and events management; publications and website creation and assistance; and general services including procurement, travel arrangements, expense reports, visa preparation, computer facilities support for software, hardware, printing, networking; capital purchasing; providing building facilities support.
