New for summer 2024, the MFI Summer Independent Student Research Experience seeks internal candidates interested in summer internship opportunities in manufacturing research. The program is open to CMU students, rising sophomores and above, who are pursuing B.S. and/or M.S. degrees.
The program includes:
- an 8-12 week research opportunity that can be a stand-alone effort or integral part of an existing manufacturing project
- a graduate student mentor to serve as the intern's main point of contact and support within the research group
- a faculty research advisor
MFI will provide:
- hourly pay commensurate with the student's academic standing at CMU (B.S. or M.S.) and in-line with other on campus work opportunities
- opportunities to engage with our broader MFI community via our summer events
- opportunities to tour other labs at CMU related to manufacturing
- an end-of-summer event showcasing the work completed during the internship
Note that this program does not fund faculty salary, supplies, travel or other operating expenses related to the research.
